Shawn & Ron

Our BIG May event was Shawn and Ron's wedding, which we hosted here at our house. 

 It was a small event, mostly family, about 30 people altogether. 

We strung lights, cleaned the whole house and yard, hosted family, and my friend Beth picked up dinner catered by a local restaurant and brought it to us in time for the reception. 

It was such a sweet, memorable event! The day was absolutely perfect - blue skies, not too hot, lovely breeze. 

  You really couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. 

The ceremony was simple, but beautiful, nestled in a little glen of trees near my parents' barn. 

Braden officiated. (It's awfully handy having a pastor in the family.)

There were wildflowers all around in the pasture that had just bloomed. 

The reception was simple and fun. (...even when Braden was posing to give me a "great shot")

Shawn and the girls had bought buckets of flowers at the farmer's market for their bouquets, and we used all the rest to create bouquets which we scattered around the house and porch. 

I made the cake...6 layers. The one thing I didn't count on was the weight of the cake. The chocolate layers were a bit softer, and the bottom two chocolates were starting to smoosh by time I laid the top layer. I was praying we wouldn't come back from the ceremony to find a flattened cake. It held. But I must say it was a relief to cut that thing! 

There was music and dancing.

He didn't steal the whole show. 

But he does make us laugh every time! 

Despite the fast-paced 3 week plan time, fun was had by all - mostly importantly by Ron & Shawn and their kids. 

Ron & Shawn, we are so honored you asked us to host! We were so happy to do that for you, and we are glad you loved your special day.
