bobe-isms

Wha happon?

Dat faw downuh?

Can't do-it!

And I think everyone's favorite...

What doeeeen? A.k.a: Wha-yu doeeeen?

Just remember, none of these questions are asked just once. Oh no. Multiple times in a row! Especially, 'what doeen?' Caleb doesn't ever seem quite satisfied with your answer.

And one more...
Yaaass. Normally accompanied by one big nod of his head.
He's very emphatic and clear when he says YES.

newsflash

Maddie's new favorite color...It varies nearly every day, sometimes multiple times a day. At this point I have no idea what it is! She often forgets and then corrects herself, reminding herself that her 'new favrit color' has changed and what it will be when she is 4. The reality: she has thoroughly confused herself and has no idea what her 'new favrit color' is.

dreams

Caleb, what did you dream about last night?

Daddy so much! (a favorite song of his)

Maddie, what did you dream about?

(after much thought) I didn't have a dream. It was too dark to see my dreams.

do we drink too much coffee around here?

Braden's day off...I made breakfast while Braden ran out to the Starbucks around the corner to use a coupon for a free cup of coffee. We began eating breakfast, and I asked Braden if I could taste his coffee--it being a new blend. I popped the top off, smelled it, said it smelled good, and gave it a taste. Maddie asked to smell the coffee. She still hasn't got smelling down yet--she gave a little sniff and then a big blow. "Mmm. It smells like deefcaf."

flowery lights

Here's a little patch of the design on my shirt I'm wearing today. I was changing Caleb's diaper after his nap, and he pointed at one of the centers of the flowers and said, "The light...is shineen. (Pause.) Uh-oh, the light is bwoken."

my little aspiring artist (I hope!)

Here's the little artist himself looking at my da Vinci book, one of his current favorites (I'm totally serious). It's one of my 'coffee table books' by the couch that Caleb has taken a liking to. He also enjoys a book on Gothic cathedrals that my mom has.

And here he is coloring. Only problem right now is he wants to color on everything else too. It is a huge effort to keep him only on the paper...and not on the walls, couches, tables, chairs, clothes and so on.

And here's his almost proper pencil grip. I just noticed him doing this for the first time a couple days ago. He really wants to write letters and will write these tiny little boxy squiggles--very cute. I find it quite ironic--here's Maddie at 3 and a half still fisting the crayons with no desire to use a proper pencil grip. And then there's Caleb, not quite two, who has picked it up on his own. I love how kids develop differently.

double quote

One more for the night...

Yesterday at church, I was talking with two of the ladies who help with Maddie's class and the others in that hall. They were telling me that they had taken Maddie to the bathroom and after a little while, she called from the stall, "It's not working!" And a few minutes later, "No, it's not working. I'm all done." We laughed over this response.

Just now we had Caleb sitting on the potty before bed, as we are introducing him to the potty in hopes of potty training him in the near future. After a few minutes he said, "Iss not wohkin...iss not wohkin."

They must be brother and sister!

As you can see, Maddie is popping them out tonight!

"Mommy, look at that splat cloud."
"Splat cloud? What do you mean, 'splat cloud?'
"That cloud. It looks like it goes splat splat slat! A splat cloud."
It did.

ready to go!

We were preparing to leave the house the other day, and I was gathering all the necessary items together. I heard Maddie say, "I'm ready!" and I turned around to find this:

hat? check.
purse? check.
little doggy? check.
doggy's blanket? food dish? toy?
check check check.
a few other miscellaneous items?
check!

(I think she was packing a diaper bag for the dog!)

Last night Maddie was watching me make a dressing for our salad. She tasted the spoon after I was done and exclaimed, "Tuuuuuu-licious! That is tulicious!"
