Playing in the leaves...pre-Sandy, that is!
"Superstorm Sandy" blew in slowly. We prepared for massive power outages, which seemed likely. On Monday as she really began to come in, we decided to head to Braden's parents' house because they have a generator and a gas stove. We were also remembering that wild storm that blew in back just before Duke was born, knocking down trees and powerlines. I was sweltering at something like 38 weeks pregnant, upper 90s and no power. A tree and powerlines blew down blocking off the route to my parents' house. Anyway, remembering that--and it was just a crazy little storm--we decided to go.
So we packed up--and any of you with babies knows the amount you have to pack up. I told Braden we should just drive to Florida for the week, as we had everything we'd need! We stayed overnight with them. We went to sleep with the wind blowing hard and rain pouring and woke up to...no wind and quiet steady rain. What in the world?! So after breakfast, we packed EVERYTHING back up and headed home...only to drive into a dark, lightless neighborhood. Yep, we were some of the few who lost power! Soooo, back we drove to Braden's parents'. We stayed there through dinner and went home that evening to a power-filled house.
