So far almost all my herbs have sprouted, some escarole just popped up yesterday, and Maddie and I just sowed a whole bunch of green onions, marigolds and nasturtium. I'm starting lettuces today, and soon I get to start tomatoes and peppers--yay!

miniature greenhouse
This year I decided to try starting all my herbs and vegetables for my garden from seed. I usually buy seedlings around May 1, but I thought it would be fun (and a lot more cost effective) to try to start my plants from seed. So I set up a little greenhouse in the dining room by our sunniest window. A little messy looking, but oh so nice to see some green popping up during this gray, snowy winter! And it's only temporary.
