painting ornaments

This was the first year that we all painted ornaments and everyone enjoyed it. Family dynamics are changing as everyone gets older.

Little Lefty getting in on the action.
(FYI: Watercolors on wood make for some (mostly) mess-free and beautiful toddler crafts.)
All 3 ornaments he painted were all blue. Anyone surprised? No.

Actually, though, in a moment of classic inspiration one side of one ornament ended up black. When he used "dis cowoh and dis cowoh and dis cowoh and all da chows!" It was a total de-ja-vu-Caleb moment. Like Duke he had a beautifully colored ornament, which in about 3 seconds turned an ugly black. We now have a solid black sleigh to join Caleb's solid black nativity on our tree.

Maisie took great pride in her ornaments this year. She has had a little artistic burst over the past couple of months.

Caleb enjoyed his polar bear and sleigh in particular.

Maddie, as usual, had far too ambitious plans for each ornament, and I had to reel her in to reality so she could actually finish...which I made her finish the next day. ;)

Even Mom and Dad got in on the action.

Painting as a pastime. It's all true.
