north myrtle

This year we went to North Myrtle beach.  Our family has never been there, but we decided to try it out.  Poor Caleb with his speech issues could NOT get it right.  He called it Noith Muhtle, Nerth Moytle, Nooth Mohtle...if you can't say your R's, I guess it's a pretty tough one.

My parents rented a large house right on the beach.  My grandparents stayed with us as well.  La joined us for about a week, Aunt BJ & Uncle John stayed with us for a few days, and we also had Dad's cousin Mike and his wife Mary come over one day for lunch, as they happened to be vacationing nearby.  The weather was great!  A little rain here and there, but we were able to hit the beach every day, and most days were warm and sunny.  The water was warm too.  Last year at the OBX, we thought the water was too cold--I guess we're a little wimpy and used to warm FL water!

Overall we thought the beach was nice. It was definitely more crowded than we are used to, but on our stretch of beach it was still pretty empty, as it was a long strip of individual houses on the beach.  If you looked down to the right it was pretty packed, as there were some highrises down that way.  Being able to walk right onto the beach was so nice, though.  It made trips to the beach super easy, and we often found ourselves running down there for just a few minutes, as well as staying out on the beach for a few hours.  The back porch was also really nice.  Many times we were out there sitting in the rockers talking and enjoying the ocean view.
