The last of September!

September also found us finding lots of cool mushrooms, including a fair amount of yummy puffballs which we added to soups and pasta.

Others we did spore prints on and tried to learn more about them, including possible poisonous look-alikes. And as always, we were uber careful. You don't play around with mushrooms!

We found a lovely dead butterfly, which the kids identified, drew and observed as a part of their biology studies.

When Duke wasn't wearing his stickygwubbs, he wore his cow watch.

Braden and Christy messed around with a whole lot of house plans.

And were on the hunt for flooring options, countertops and more.

Duke played with lots of sticks, big sticks especially!

The Littles after church one Sunday - are they a cute pair or what? (I love Maisie in pigtails!) Maisie isn't normally this much taller than Duke, but she must have just popped up suddenly right here.

Chillin' on the back porch.
(A classic Duke look on his face.)

His curls were my favorite!!!

Maisie collected bugs, nuts, leaves and sticks. Lots of little things to collect around here.

The kids watched movies in odd ways.
(Braden snapped this one evening, and I'm still not sure what was going on!)

We took pictures of the crawdads we caught and observed in a jar for a few days.

There were more beautiful sunny mornings!
(People complain about the hot summers, but my goodness the fall is AMAZING!!)

And I took a few too many pictures of the Duke. Sigh. The other kids will probably complain one day. I'm sorry! He cracks me up!
